Friendly, clean, inexpensive and a real change of scenery that has a rooftop and hot tub in Tampa

If you're looking for friendly, clean, inexpensive and a real change of scenery, in short a unique experience, this is the place to stay. No two private rooms or dormitories are alike. Each one has a decoration related to the music(Folk, Jazz, etc.). In the morning in the kitchen, many products are waiting for you to concoct your breakfast: eggs, milk, bread, fruits... There is even a rooftop and a jacuzzi! In short, this hostel is a real good address!

The location isn't too bad, it's definitely an interesting place to stay. Price isn't too bad comparable to a hotel, but there's competitive airbnbs that are cheaper. I stayed in the Folk room, heard some weird noises from the trash can. Turned out to be a huge roach. Not judging, they exist all over in Florida. But might wanna spray. Bed was a little uncomfortable. People were nice but definitely not the typical hostel traveler types. Maybe I came during a weird off period or something. The staff were nice folks, only thing that sucked was check out. It was at 11 am and I didn't get back until 11:20 to grab my stuff. So instead they did it for me and had my suitcase in the office. I understand needing to get folks out but it wasn't that long. Not a terrible stay but not a great one either. There's lots of potential but might be best if traveling with someone vs solo.

Nice staff for letting me check in early. However I’ve got to say I couldn’t wait to get out of there I left at 7am. Shower had no warm water and just trickled out of the head… no water pressure at all. Someone staying next to me was yelling on the phone with it on speaker with the door wide open from 2pm to 6pm. I could hear the whole phone call. He/she then blared the TV until 3am I had to put my earplugs in. Woke up to people having sex later on that night at around 3am ????….
Place was run down and looked nothing like pictures. Wasn’t given towels.
Would never go back here

They call this a hybrid B&B and hostel. They do have private rooms with private bathrooms as well as shared sleeping spaces. They do provide breakfast ingredients, but you have to assemble your own meal and that means cook it yourself. They provide everything you need to cook, you just have to clean up after yourself. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable, however the shower walls and floor had someone else's hair on it so we bypassed the shower. We could have used the outdoor shower which seemed clean enough but it would have been too inconvenient for us so we opted out of the shower experience. We told management about it (and had pics to prove) and they were very sorry and offered us 20% off our next visit. I think for the price, it's worth coming back. This place is not wheelchair accessible and difficult to navigate if you use any type of assistive device, so I would stay clear of this place of you have any physical disabilities.

I stayed here twice. Once in 2015 when I first moved to Tampa and was waiting on my first apartment to be ready. Then again in 2020 when I was in between apartments and had no place to stay for 3 days. Even though the amenities are as bare bones basic as it gets, I enjoyed my time there in 2015. Mostly because of the really chill vibe and the charming decor. Unfortunately in 2020 I had a bad experience that soured it for me. There were dead carpet beetles all over the blues room. At least a half dozen of them. But worse yet I got bit by a spider in the bed. My foot swelled up and I stripped the sheets and saw another spider scurry away. The mattress was about 20+ years old with the wooden boards underneath falling thru the box spring. The front desk guy (not the owner) had an attitude with me when I told him. I too itched for weeks after and had to get a prescription for Permethrin (a cream that treats scabies). Of course the owner will vigorously deny this but I am not the first or second or third review to mention this. It is not a grand customer conspiracy - the place is unsanitary. It's really too bad. If they would overhaul the bedding with new mattresses and new linens, and would commit to a deep clean of the floor once a month, this would be an awesome place to stay even if you were local and just needed a few days with some light music and cute scenery.
