Orthodox Church with a magnificent dome in Tarpon Springs housing a marble altar, chandeliers and numerous icons
This church is a replica of the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul. An excellent example of the new Byzantine architecture, with its interior decorated with marble. Dating from 1943, the cathedral replaced a smaller structure built in 1907 by a Greek community. It has a magical dome. There are 23 hand-painted stained glass windows, a marble altar, Czechoslovakian chandeliers and numerous icons by the Greek iconographer George Saklaridis.
