A cultural jewel, the Opéra de La Monnaie is one of Europe's best-loved opera houses. In perfect harmony with the prestige of its main building, and behind it is the superb theater with its cutting-edge, contemporary programming. Young Opera evenings are aimed at the under-30s, with drinks, a special program and, often, a chance to meet the artists. Tours of the site are organized on Saturday lunchtimes. It is said that it was following an opera in 1830 that the Belgians made "their revolution" for Belgian independence.
