THE DAVID SHELDRICK'S WILDLIFE TRUST
Foundation that develops a rescue program for orphaned elephants and rhinos in Nairobi
Founded in 1977 by Daphne Sheldrick, to honour her late husband, David Sheldrick, founder of Tsavo East National Park, and directed since 2001 by their daughter, Angela Sheldrick, this foundation does extraordinary work in the rehabilitation of wildlife in Kenya. In particular, it is developing a rescue programme for orphaned elephants and rhinos. The fight against poaching, the protection of natural ecosystems, the sensitization and education of the community to the protection of the environment, the rescue of animals in distress and the provision of veterinary assistance are at the heart of its activity. A visit to the elephant orphanage is available. The funds raised by tourist visits and sponsorships are donated to the organization that takes care of these orphans and prepares them little by little to reintegrate into the wild. Be there at 11am as the "demonstration" lasts only one hour and the elephants, presented by age category, follow one another.
Well aware of the importance of tourism for the protection of Kenya's wildlife, and strong in its commitments and values, the Sheldrick Foundation also has six ecolodges, five of which are based in Tsavo East National Park: Ithumba Camp, Ithumba Hill and Ithumba Private in the northern zone; Galdessa Camp and Galdessa Little on the Galana River; and finally, the smallest one, Umani Springs, nestled in Kibwezi Forest.

Members' reviews on THE DAVID SHELDRICK'S WILDLIFE TRUST
The ratings and reviews below reflect the subjective opinions of members and not the opinion of The Little Witty.
