UHURU PARK
The most pleasant park in Nairobi, located near the central business district
This is the most pleasant park in Nairobi. During the day, it's nice to walk around. At night, however, the public changes dramatically and we strongly advise against venturing there. This 12.9-hectare park, close to the central business district of Nairobi, has a certain symbolic value, as it was saved from destruction in the 1980s by Nobel Peace Prize winner Wangari Maathai. This Kenyan environmental activist is the founder of the Green Belt movement, founded in 1997, and of programmes to "reforest" Africa.
