Located 3 km from the city centre, the Nairobi Arboretum was designated a protected forest reserve in 1932. Managed by the Kenya Forest Service (KFS), this 30-hectare estate is home to no less than 350 species of indigenous and exotic plants, most of which are labelled. There are also over 100 species of migratory and sedentary birds and a large population of Sykes and Vervet monkeys. Botany and ornithology enthusiasts will find it of great interest. It is also a very popular picnic spot.
