The Sleeping Warrior, for its resemblance to the silhouette of a reclining man, is in fact an ancient volcano, not far from the shores of Lake Elementeita and the town of Kikopey. The hike here is neither too long nor too complicated, and offers lovely views of the lake and its flamingos on one side, and the caldera on the other. The Sleeping Warrior is also a world-famous landmark for rally enthusiasts, providing the setting and backdrop for the annual Safari Rally, a round of the WRC world championship.
