TREETOPS
Historic lodge, one of the oldest in the Aberdares National Park, some rooms overlooking the waterhole
Located in the Aberdares National Park, Treetops, opened in 1932, is one of Africa's oldest game-viewing lodges. Its prestigious history sets it apart. It was here that Princess Elizabeth became Queen, her father George VI having died while staying here. A few years later, the lodge was destroyed during the Mau-Mau revolt. Today, the lodge has been completely renovated and boasts 36 rooms. Other assets include the (good) cuisine and the view of the waterhole from some rooms.
