LAMU MUSEUM
Nice and interesting museum on the waterfront that allows to understand the history of Lamu in situ, the Swahili society and culture
Nice museum installed in an old colonial house on the sea front. It allows a good approach of the history and culture of Lamu through a nice collection of traditional objects, including two superb siwa (wind instruments used during ceremonies) carved in ivory. Really interesting to understand the history of Lamu in situ, the Swahili society and culture. The guides will be happy to tell you the history of their town, so don't miss it. A visit to the Swahili House Museum and the Lamu Fort is a must.
