A fishing village of "sea gypsies", preserving its ancestral traditions and animist religion.

Now a tourist attraction, the fishing village of the "sea gypsies" tries as best it can to keep its ancestral traditions and its religion, animism, intact. This is the oldest Chao Ley settlement in Phuket, another is in Saphan Bay, a few kilometres north of Phuket Town. Get there early in the morning, to capture the atmosphere of the place, before the tourist groups arrive. Be respectful and don't forget to ask people's permission if you want to photograph them.

En journée c'est une horreur...Rempli de touristes on se croirait à Marrakech dans les souks...Mais le matin de bonheur ou en fin de journée le lieu a un certains charme et les locaux s'approprient à nouveaux les lieux..

Véritable village bâti sur la mer au bord d'une petite île accessible par bateau ,c'est un véritable dédale de maisonnettes ,temple et écoles posées sur l'eau .L'occasion de faire de sublime photos pour cet endroit assez unique.

En y allant tôt le matin on pourra aller à la rencontré des locaux qui pour la plupart sont pêcheurs et éviter le trop grand nombre de touristes. Beaucoup de maisons sur pilotis. On mange très bien dans le secteur et pour pas cher à même la plage voisine sur des nattes.
