PANORAMA FROM THE TOP OF THE ISLAND

A summit at Thon Sai offering panoramic views of Loh Dalam and Ton Sai beaches, cliffs plunging into the sea...
An exceptional panorama awaits you from the heights of the island. The climb starts from the village of Ton Sai, on the beach side of Loh Dalum. The path (staircase, in fact) starts not far from Maya Tour's new reception office (the route is signposted), and takes 25 minutes of "intensive" climbing. The first viewpoint is at the top, at the level of a long, low house occupied by a Thai family who have since opened a restaurant. As the viewpoint is located on private property, a right-of-way fee must be paid. Bring good shoes and water. Relax Beach and Loh Bakao Bay, among others, can be reached by continuing along the same path.
From the overhanging rocks, there's an unobstructed view of Loh Dalam and Ton Sai beaches, and the cliffs plunging into the sea opposite. The beauty of the site seems unreal. It's best to climb up around 4.30pm rather than at sunset (6pm), when the multicolored rock faces are still receiving sunlight.
A second viewpoint can be found 500 m away, to the north, following a small path that winds through the trees, first descending and then ascending to the main ridge. There, at the very top, a guesthouse has been set up: a long house with a wooden terrace. You can spend the night here. At the edge of the slope, a tiny terrace offers a different panorama, through a gap in the trees. A third is further on, deep in the forest.
