Comfortable historic hotel with a restaurant that was frequented by John Wayne during the filming ofHatari! in Arusha.

This historic hotel has been around since 1894 and was frequented by John Wayne during the filming ofHatari. Converted into a Four Points by Sheraton, it impresses with its shops, its casino, its interior garden, its spa, its gym, its small pool and its cosy bar. A real success: comfortable, luxurious, airy, friendly... In the lobby, three-piece suits meet shorts and sandals. The restaurant is excellent and its breakfasts divine.

It's a nice hotel, right next to town, so accessibility is excellent. The staff is friendly and helpful. The grounds have a lot of vegetation, making it very calming. You also get a nice view of Mount Meru on a clear day. Hygiene standards are high, and my room was always clean. They have a lot of photos on the walls and old guest books from over 80 years back when the hotel started. It's really interesting to see the history. The only thing I didn't like is the food, hence the missig star.
