TIPPU TIP'S HOUSE
House located in the lanes of old Shangani, near the Africa House Hotel, which has a heavily carved wooden door.
This house was the home of a wealthy late 19th century slave trader who died in 1905. It is located in the back streets of old Shangani, near the Africa House Hotel. You cannot visit it, but simply admire its heavily carved wooden door, preceded by beautiful marble stairs. Tippu Tip, whose real name was Hamed bin Mohammed el Marjebi, led many trading expeditions in Central Africa, some of which were slave-owning. He was a plantation owner and provincial governor in the Congo.
