PEOPLE'S PALACE MUSEUM
In the garden of the People's Palace are the tombs of all the sultans.
It used to be one of the island's most interesting visits, and one of the only museums, but following a partial collapse it is now closed. There are rumours of a future restoration, but nothing is certain... This palace was built at the end of the 19th century on the ruins of Beit-El-Sahel, which was destroyed by British bombardment in 1896. It was the palace of Sultan Said until the revolution of 1964. Renamed under a proletarian name, the People's Palace served as administrative offices until 1990. In the garden are the tombs of all the sultans.
