The port of Malindi is a must, at the end of the Stone Town waterfront in the eponymous district, opposite the Old Dispensary, with the containers as a backdrop. It's bustling with activity at the time of ferry departures and arrivals, and you can buy your tickets the day before for Dar es Salaam or Pemba with Azam Marine. There is no direct ferry to Mafia, so you'll have to go via Dar es Salaam. If you're driving, make sure you don't get stuck in the street at ferry disembarkation time!
