Superbes sites de plongée.
1. On the dive day, we were surprised to find ourselves paired with two advanced open water divers, which didn't seem fair to us or them, but we decided to go along with it.
2. The dive master chose a dive site on the west bank, labeled as suitable for "experienced" divers on their website. We agreed as long as the conditions were safe and within our depth limits.
3. Unfortunately, the weather conditions weren't ideal, with strong winds, large waves, and a powerful current. Given that it was our first dive, this made us quite uncomfortable and stressed.
4. The dive master's briefing on the boat was disappointingly brief and missed several crucial details. Furthermore, their attitude came across as somewhat arrogant.
5. During our descent, I noticed the absence of the PADI flag for safety, which made me uneasy.
6. Thankfully, the first dive went relatively well.
7. However, during the second dive near the shore where the current was stronger and visibility was poor, my air supply started running low after just 20 minutes. To our surprise, the dive master showed little concern and asked my buddy and me to ascend alone, leaving us in a potentially risky situation. This contradicted what had been mentioned in the briefing about ascending together as a group in case of any problems.
This experience was far from enjoyable, and we felt unsafe throughout. As a result, we decided to book another dive with a different center the following day, where we found the staff to be considerate, attentive, and genuinely helpful.
We didn’t do any snorkelling with Scubafish but we shared a boat with some snorkellers. They all seemed to have an amazing time (they saw dolphins) and the team were very accommodating to different ages and abilities. Thank you Ludo and team - we had such an amazing time!
If you book there don’t mention the hotel you stay in. For some hotels they have some type of agreement (probably commission) which will increase your price. Keep quiet - safe money.
Our guide Ludo was super knowledgeable and showed us so many things- even could tell from sound where the dolphins were coming from and lead us into their path so they swam alongside us under the water for a while. Absolutely incredible!!
I also left my GoPro on the boat and they messaged me a photo asking if it was mine then dropped it back to my hotel free of charges
Couldn’t recommend them more!
Le Staff est souriant et chaleureux, donnant un plaisir supplémentaire à la découverte des fonds marins!
Plongées entre 45 et 50 minutes à des profondeurs différentes en fonction des spots.
Merci ;)
We were 2 AOW divers (one of us did a refresher course) 1 discover scuba dive and 1 snorkelling.
The DSD and refresher (and OWD) is done in the adjacent pool of the hotel that has a specialised spot for the diving course, going at a 2.5m deep at its center.
Amana, our instructor, was always kind and caring, making everyone feel comfortable. From what we could see on the 3 days we dived, plus the total 7 days staying at the hotel, all instructors were calm, patient and thorough. Safety is at the focous point of the whole process.
Out lovely Babu ???? was a patient and knowledgeable snorkeling guide, helping our friend fight his fear of water.
Amana was not only the DSD instructur but also our guide during the dives and did the most amazing job showing us great spots while keeping us all safe. His calming manner and professionalism were always welcome and we hope to come back to dive with him again. Thank you so much, Amana!
Regarding organisation, the tides make it all a challenge, but either by fiber boat or speed boat, we always got to our Dhow. Once, we left with a bus to get to another boarding spot, but all went as smoothly as when we left from the usual shore. Organisation really 5 stars.
Laura and Jessica, thank you so much for your patience in answering our questions and accommodating us, especially when we had to cancel the dive on such short notice. You are the best ????
If you come to zanzibar for diving, do yourself a favour and go check Scuba Fish. You will not regret it. Ok, maybe you will because you might not want to go anywhere else ????
EDIT after reading some of the less positive comments:
For all the "experienced divers" that complain about the diving time: this side of the island is very much affected by the tides. It means you need to leave and you NEED to come back in a very tight timeline. This will have an impact on your diving time. Either you do one site and a long dive, or you see 2 sites in 2 shorter (never less than 45 min or 50 bar) dive.
Also, for the divers complaining about issues with equipment: if you are an AOW or higher, it is your job to check your equipment before diving. They also have spare everything in the boat in case of an issue. Communication is key.
Download whatsapp to communicate with them as it is much easier.
They also offer snorkeling tours as well.
Bring cash to pay and to tip as it's preferred and cheaper than using a credit card.
They also give you fruit and snacks in between dives!
I'm very happy I chose this company to dive with!
Shoutout to Eva who was my divemaster!
Don't forget to bring tips for the divemasters and crew!
