ST. GEORGE'S MONASTERY
Go there and contact
Monastery housing a Roman tower with Coptic museum, St. George's convent church and Greek Orthodox confessional.
It is, in fact, inside the Roman tower that adjoins the Coptic museum, the church of the convent of St. George, of Greek Orthodox faith, which is only a few meters away. The monastery was founded at the end of the 7th and beginning of the 8th centuries. Since the beginning of the 19th century, it has been the residence of the patriarchs of Alexandria and the whole African continent: in fact, it is not open to the public. Saint George became a martyr in the 4th century when he was reportedly beheaded for refusing to renounce his faith.
