EL-HUSSEIN MOSQUE
A very late mosque, built on a Fatimid cemetery that completed the Khan el-Khalili to the south.
This mosque is one of the later ones. It was built by the Khedive Ismail in 1837 on a Fatimid cemetery that completed the Khan el-Khalili in the south. It has no major historical or architectural interest. To reach the rest of the walk, one must cross el-Azhar Street, which is a 19th century breakthrough intended by Khedive Ismaïl. One must either take the underground passage that leads in front of el-Azhar Mosque or the footbridge that leads in front of the complex of buildings of Sultan el-Ghouri, which continues Muezz el-Din Allah Street.
