MOSQUE SOLIMAN AGHA EL-SILAHDAR AND SABIL
Mosque in the Turkish architectural style of the period, with its marble panels and wooden overhang.
A rare example of a monument dating from the end of the reign of Muhammad Ali Pasha, this mosque, as well as the sabil that adjoins it, are of recent construction, in the mid-19th century. It follows the Turkish architectural fashion of the time, with its marble panels and wooden overhang. The ornamentation mixes several styles, including European Baroque forms. The sabil, recently restored, is a beautiful achievement in Ottoman taste. We also visit the cistern.
