Mosque featuring a courtyard with rows of arcades supported by reused antique columns and a Mamluk-period minaret.
The Al Tinbogha el-Maridani mosque, built in 1324, is much more interesting than the Inel-El-Youssoufi mosque. Its courtyard is made up of rows of arcades supported by reused antique columns. The mihrab (prayer niche) is admirably inlaid with flamboyant marble, as is the qibla (wall indicating the direction of Mecca), which is decorated with great finesse. The minaret, dating from the Mamluk period, comes later.
