SERGHAMISH MADRASSA MOSQUE
Splendid, but tiny madrassa with a central courtyard divided into four iwans, offering remarkable architectural decoration.
This splendid but tiny madrassa was built in 1356 by Prince Seif el-Din Serghamish. It is accessed through a beautiful stone stalactite portal, which opens onto a central courtyard divided into four iwans. The marble floor of the inner courtyard is superb, as is the sahn, topped by a splendid dome. The architectural decoration of the madrassa is remarkable for its numerous stalactite waterfalls and round Mameluke coats of arms.
