CHURCH OF THE VIRGIN-MARY OF ZEITOUN
Go there and contact
This church has been a place of pilgrimage for Copts since the apparitions of the Virgin Mary in 1968.
A sycamore tree, called the "tree of the Virgin", grows where Christ is said to have caused a spring to gush forth. There is the church of Saint Mary of Zeitoun, a place of pilgrimage frequented by the Copts since the apparitions of the Virgin in 1968. The church was built in 1924 by a wealthy Coptic owner who initially wanted to build a building. But Our Lady appeared to him in a dream and promised that she would honour the place if he built a church. Which he did, which she did.
