MOGAMMA
Large building in Soviet architectural style, where the comedy film about a hostage situation was shot.
This large building overlooking Tahrir Square was built from 1950 to 1952 in a Soviet architectural style, at a time when the USSR had the support of Egypt and contracts with the country, such as the Aswan High Dam. The entire Egyptian administration is represented there, with its slowness and infinite capacity to move from one office to another. The Egyptians like to make fun of it and say that agents answer questions by shelling peas. A comedy film imagining a hostage situation was even made there (The Terrorist and the kebab).
