DERWISH THEATRE
Sufi theater with a round dance floor in the center of the first floor, bordered by wooden balustrades.
This Sufi theater dating from the 18th century is interesting for the quality of preservation of its wooden parts. Built on the ruins of the Madrassa Sunqur Saadi, whose mausoleum can still be seen, its first floor features a theater in the center of which is a round dance floor, delimited by wooden balustrades. It was here that the Sufi derwish danced while chanting the name of Allah. The wooden loggia, protected from view by moucharabiehs, was intended for women. The decoration of the frieze that supports the dome is of the purest Ottoman style.
