SABIL KUTTAB QAITBAY
A superb red-stone edifice, carefully decorated and adorned with polychrome marble slabs, built by Sultan Qaïtbay.
It was in 1479 that Sultan Qaïtbay built this superb red stone edifice, carefully decorated and adorned with polychrome marble slabs. The sabil, on the ground floor, is separated from the outside by a massive grid. On the first floor of the kuttab, the facade offers a view of finely worked wooden balconies whose windows are closed by finely drawn mashrabiyya. One deplores in the restoration of this sabil that only the cistern is open to the visit, and for 30 LE! The floors have been transformed into modern rooms that offer no interest.
