SABIL KUTTAB ABDEL-RAHMAN KATKHUDA
This Ottoman and Turkish-inspired sabil, with stocking room and kuttab above, is one of the city's most elegant.
Built in the 18th century, this Ottoman-Turkish-inspired sabil (water cistern) is one of the city's most elegant. Inside, in the lower room, refined earthenware depicts, among other things, the pilgrimage to Mecca. Above, the kuttab is beautifully crafted and enclosed by a wooden moucharabieh. Ceramics and handicrafts made at Souq al Fustat are sold here at reasonable prices. See also the gift shop in the Amir Bashtak Palace.
