Ottoman-built Sabil at the start of Souyoufeya Street, with a marble facade featuring elaborate arabesques.
It was the mother of Khedive Ismaïl, Princess Bambah Qadim, who had this Ottoman-style sabil erected in 1867. She was known for her great faith and was called "um el-mohsenin", meaning "the mother of charity". Its elaborate marble facade and elaborate arabesques are of the purest Ottoman style. Of all beauty, it is often represented in Cairo's iconography. Recently renovated, the sabil is located at the beginning of Souyoufeya street where two other remarkable monuments, the palace of Prince Taz and the Derwish theatre are located.
