TEMPLE DE LA VALLÉE DE KÉPHREN
This Aswan pink granite temple in the Valley of Kephren, with its alabaster floor, is where the mummifications took place.
The Valley Temple of Kephren is part of the funerary complex of the Pyramid of Kephren, each pyramid having two temples, a valley temple and a funerary temple. This was the temple where the mummification process took place. Built of pink Aswan granite with an alabaster floor. 23 statues of Kephren have been found here, all decapitated except 1, on display in the Egyptian Museum. Was this the act of recent looters, or of disgruntled locals? Here, too, the mystery remains.
