CATHEDRAL OF THE VIRGIN MARY DE L'ASSOMPTION
Magnificent church of successive eras in Pula merging the styles of Roman and Renaissance architecture in the facade.
The current cathedral building combines Romanesque and Renaissance styles in its façade. Several buildings had already been erected on this site in successive eras, including an ancient temple dating back to Roman times (4th century). Note the mosaics on the floor and the sarcophagus, dating from the 3rd century and now used as an altar. A magnificent church, both inside and out, with a massive, handsome campanile.
