Saffron cultivation in Auvergne and production of saffron-based gourmet products.
In Mazaye, tiny purple flowers carpet the fields of Michel and Christopher Baur. They've been growing organic saffron since 2013, and offer tours of the saffron farm in Auvergne. The tour lasts two hours and ends with a tasting session. Confits, syrups, sugar crystals or even liqueur: saffron is transformed to delight gourmets. It can also be found in the form of pistils, harvested in autumn, to slip delicately into a recipe. All products are on sale in the boutique or on their website.
