FRANCISCAN MONASTERY (SAMOSTAN FRANJEVAČKI)
Monastery and church in Hvar with a refectory and a museum with a collection of books and religious paintings.
The monastery and church at the tip of Cape Sridnji were built between 1461 and 1471, and a bell tower was added in the 16th century. The place then lost its monastic vocation and became a retirement home for sailors. The refectory and an adjacent room have been transformed into a museum. To see, a collection of books, religious paintings including a representation of the Last Supper, by the Venetian Mateo Ponzonni (16th century), and the venerable cypress, at least 300 years old.
