HVAR PUBLIC THEATER (HRVASKO PUČKO KAZALIŠTE)
Historical theater in neo-baroque style with an auditorium in Hvar, which preserves two mural scenographies.
The historical theatre of Hvar is located on the second floor of the Arsenal. On the lintel of the entrance door there is an inscription indicating the year 1612. The auditorium with boxes dates back to 1803, the year the Theatre Society was founded. The Neo-Baroque style dates from the mid-19th century. Two mural scenographies, dating from 1819 and 1900, have been preserved. The restoration of the historic monument is underway and access to the theatre is limited.
