PANTOKRATOR MONASTERY
Monastery with a spacious narthex on Mount Pantokrator.
The Pantokrator Monastery was founded in 1347 when the 23 inhabitants of the surrounding villages decided to build it. The monastery was first destroyed in 1537 and then rebuilt in the 17th century. The façade of the building was even touched up in the 19th century. Among its curiosities, the monastery has vaulted windows, a spacious narthex, and a sloping ceiling. If you're in the area, the monastery's festival of panygiria (a traditional feast with dancing, music and buffet) is held here on August 6 every year.
