SINARADES
Several churches in a village inhabited since Byzantine times in Pelekas.
The village of Sinarades has been inhabited since the Byzantine period. The inhabitants came from the south of Italy, but in 1669 the first refugees from Crete fleeing the Ottoman yoke arrived. In the village's alleyways there are stone houses with coloured tiles, flowered balconies with stone stairs leading up to them. In Sinarades, there are no less than twelve churches! The most impressive are those in the centre of the village, Saint-Nicolas and Saint-Spiridon, with a beautiful 17th century campanile and inside an organ from Italy.
