CASTLE OF GARDIKI
Byzantine castle of the 13th century in Korissia.
It can be seen from the entrance to the village of Gardiki. A Byzantine castle from the 13th century, it was one of the three defensive pillars of the island, together with the castle of Kassiopi and the Angelokastro of Krini. The castle consists of eight square towers: on top of the southernmost one, there are traces of an ancient chapel and religious frescoes. The remains of its architecture, which can be seen, are remarkable and the setting relaxing. Although partially demolished, it has retained its Byzantine characteristics which permeate the entire building.
