COVER
From Loretánské Namesti, a little effort to arrive on the beautiful square (grass and daisies, large trees, flowering houses) of Pohořelec which allows access to the convent of Strahov. Take the passage at No. 8 of the square and you are in the abbey courtyard. Vladislav built the convent for the Premonstratensian order in 1140. Several times damaged by wars and fires, and then rebuilt, its current appearance dates from the baroque era (th and th centuries). After the dissolution of religious orders in 1952, the monastery was transformed into a museum of national literature (see below), which boasts a magnificent library. This confirms its role as a cultural pole, which was its own, from the early years of its creation.
