CLAM-GALLAS PALÁC (CLAM-GALLASOVSKÝ PALÁC)
It's impossible to miss the superb entrance to this building from Marianské Square. It's one of the finest creations of Viennese architect J. B. Fischer von Erlach (1713-1719). Two pairs of atlatls, sculpted by M.-B. Braun in 1714, support the first-floor balcony. Their voices will follow you on the free app that will guide you through the exciting palace tour. Unfortunately, the palace was looted and no period furnishings remain, but the frescoes, wall sculptures and opulent interior architecture are well worth a visit. It all begins with a climb up the grand staircase, considered one of the jewels of Baroque civil architecture in Prague. The staircase is illuminated by very high windows, giving off a light that highlights the paintings by Carlo Innocenzo Carlone, which set the tone: Greek mythology was to inspire all the palace's decorations. In the first two antechambers, for example, you can admire the painted ceilings depicting the Council of the Olympian Gods and the Allegory of Arts and Science, a unique composition featuring muses and scientific measuring instruments. Don't miss the chandelier in the Chinese cabinet, made from elements of a porcelain tea service, and round off your visit with the winter garden and its splendid wall decorations.
we'll then take you to the capital's archives.
