A magical place with luxury chalets perched on trees with huge verandas for a unique experience.

A simply magical place! Luxury chalets perched on trees with huge verandas to be as close as possible to nature. Or how to live the life of a Robinson, without depriving yourself of comfort... A unique experience that attracts many travelers, so much so that you have to book six months in advance if you hope to have a room available. Perfect bedding, careful decoration, warm welcome. And not to spoil anything, the breakfast is excellent. Everything is there to make your stay a happiness.

We stayed here three nights and it was the highlight of our trip. Jenn and the entire staff were exceptionally nice and helpful. Our treehouse was gorgeous, comfortable, and private. Breakfast and tea time were fantastic, with amazing views and tons of birds. The hotel's guide, Koky, was also amazing--we went on three excursions with him and saw and learned so much. If we're lucky enough to make it back to Monte Verde we will definitely stay here again.

This place is top notch, Jen and her team were wonderful. Each treehouse is sited so that you can't see the other houses. Our treehouse was immaculate, and very plush. She has a large acreage with plenty of walking trails and wildlife. Breakfasts were delicious, plus the added show of the tropical birds coming to get their breakfast from the feeders. Tea time was a fun get together. Jen and her assistant, Jennifer, gave us great recommendations for what to see around Santa Elena. Jen works with a transportation company, who took us from the airport in San Jose to the hotel, and then they provided daily support to get us into town and to the attractions as needed. She also works with a local expert guide, Kokey, who is superb. He provides both daytime and night time guided walking tours to see the local wildlife. All in all, this was the best place we stayed at during out trip around Costa Rica.

Fabulous hotel. Wonderful location. Terrific staff & lovely owner, Jennifer "Jen" King. An expat from New York, she transformed a once-decrepit farm decades ago into a unique oasis, its rooms richly appointed in local woods & textiles. The exquisite accommodations (especially the "Eden" tree house, where we stayed) are indeed hidden among the forest trees & vines. Located in the mountains of Monteverde, at the edge of the famed cloud forests, Hidden Canopy features its own hiking trail, a well-maintained flower & bird garden, & a superbly stocked reading lounge, complete with an ample number of spotting scopes & binoculars. The views are breathtaking, with sun rises, sunsets, & the occasional rainbow. Especially during breakfast & afternoon "tea" times, birds of all sizes visit an avian buffet of flowering plants & hangers of fresh tropical fruits & vessels of sugar water. Humming birds galore, along with various tanagers & even Baltimore Orioles, grace the feeding frenzy. Our own breakfasts were delicious, custom-made with a delicate local touch & with welcome options for gluten-free & other requirements. Hidden Canopy even has its own exclusive naturalist guide, a charming man named "Koky" Porras, whose expertise & kindness paves the way for thrilling night and day hikes deep into the forests to see all manner of fauna & flora. Our own sightings, in short order, included monkeys, a sleeping sloth, a coiled green viper, various & numerous insects, & abundant white-nosed coati (some of whom also visit the hotel's garden). An antiquated website belies an otherwise top-flight operation & the warm embrace of “Jen" & her staff — they are, indeed, a marvel.

Hidden Canopy is pure heaven. It’s evident Jenn and her team have put a lot of love and care into their property. Their main house has the best view in Monteverde. Our Eden treehouse was absolutely stunning. We loved meeting other couples during “tea time” while enjoying delicious sangria and viewing the hundreds of hummingbirds that come to feed outside. Breakfast is also delicious!!

Koke provides nice wildlife tours in the mornings and night with much to see. Jenn and her team provide tons of local recommendations and will help you with whatever you need! I wish I could’ve stayed here longer!
