We stayed here three nights and it was the highlight of our trip. Jenn and the entire staff were exceptionally nice and helpful. Our treehouse was gorgeous, comfortable, and private. Breakfast and tea time were fantastic, with amazing views and tons of birds. The hotel's guide, Koky, was also amazing--we went on three excursions with him and saw and learned so much. If we're lucky enough to make it back to Monte Verde we will definitely stay here again.

This place is top notch, Jen and her team were wonderful. Each treehouse is sited so that you can't see the other houses. Our treehouse was immaculate, and very plush. She has a large acreage with plenty of walking trails and wildlife. Breakfasts were delicious, plus the added show of the tropical birds coming to get their breakfast from the feeders. Tea time was a fun get together. Jen and her assistant, Jennifer, gave us great recommendations for what to see around Santa Elena. Jen works with a transportation company, who took us from the airport in San Jose to the hotel, and then they provided daily support to get us into town and to the attractions as needed. She also works with a local expert guide, Kokey, who is superb. He provides both daytime and night time guided walking tours to see the local wildlife. All in all, this was the best place we stayed at during out trip around Costa Rica.

Fabulous hotel. Wonderful location. Terrific staff & lovely owner, Jennifer "Jen" King. An expat from New York, she transformed a once-decrepit farm decades ago into a unique oasis, its rooms richly appointed in local woods & textiles. The exquisite accommodations (especially the "Eden" tree house, where we stayed) are indeed hidden among the forest trees & vines. Located in the mountains of Monteverde, at the edge of the famed cloud forests, Hidden Canopy features its own hiking trail, a well-maintained flower & bird garden, & a superbly stocked reading lounge, complete with an ample number of spotting scopes & binoculars. The views are breathtaking, with sun rises, sunsets, & the occasional rainbow. Especially during breakfast & afternoon "tea" times, birds of all sizes visit an avian buffet of flowering plants & hangers of fresh tropical fruits & vessels of sugar water. Humming birds galore, along with various tanagers & even Baltimore Orioles, grace the feeding frenzy. Our own breakfasts were delicious, custom-made with a delicate local touch & with welcome options for gluten-free & other requirements. Hidden Canopy even has its own exclusive naturalist guide, a charming man named "Koky" Porras, whose expertise & kindness paves the way for thrilling night and day hikes deep into the forests to see all manner of fauna & flora. Our own sightings, in short order, included monkeys, a sleeping sloth, a coiled green viper, various & numerous insects, & abundant white-nosed coati (some of whom also visit the hotel's garden). An antiquated website belies an otherwise top-flight operation & the warm embrace of “Jen" & her staff — they are, indeed, a marvel.

Hidden Canopy is pure heaven. It’s evident Jenn and her team have put a lot of love and care into their property. Their main house has the best view in Monteverde. Our Eden treehouse was absolutely stunning. We loved meeting other couples during “tea time” while enjoying delicious sangria and viewing the hundreds of hummingbirds that come to feed outside. Breakfast is also delicious!!

Koke provides nice wildlife tours in the mornings and night with much to see. Jenn and her team provide tons of local recommendations and will help you with whatever you need! I wish I could’ve stayed here longer!

This was our first stop on our honeymoon for my husband and me and we are so glad we did. Jen and her team are beyond welcoming, gracious, and warm. The panoramic views from the dining area are breathtaking and the “tea time” sunset viewing should not be missed. Try the white sangria- so good I’m going to try to replicate it at home. The bed is the most comfortable bed we have had on our honeymoon and we stayed in a 5 star resort after this. The morning breakfast is all made to order and so filling. Also, Denise her assistant and tour guide Koky should also be mentioned for their recommendations, hospitality, and talents. Try to book a night tour with Koky as he is a master guide and will photograph all the animals of the night for you! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

I can't quite put to words how special this place is. Jennifer (the owner) and her entire team truly brought us in and took care of us. I honestly wasn't expecting the warmth from the staff or the attention to detail in their work- but these reasons alone would draw me back. The breakfast was a treat every single morning. I highly recommend the sangria during happy hour. The facilities are incredible- something you need to see with your own eye. And everything you might want to do in Monte Verde is in close proximity. Highly highly recommend.. If I could rate more than 5 stars, I would.

If you’re looking for a private treehouse experience, look no further. Honestly, the value was incredible and completely bespoke. The rooms are gorgeous and the breakfast, oh my goodness, the breakfast was hands down the most delicious and nutritious breakfast we had in all of Costa Rica. The daily happy hour is also so unique and a great time to converse with others, learning about new experiences, trading info and recommendations on excursions and dining. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Koky, the resident animal/all things Costa Rican expert. He took us on our night hike and it’s so obvious the other tour guides have respect for Koky. Jen is absolutely the sweetest and made sure our needs were met and even made us reservations for dinner in town. Come here for rooms and the views, stay for the environment.

Hidden Canopy was the third stop on our Costa Rican honeymoon and it was incredible. It was recommended to us by two other family members who had visited on separate occasions. Even with their glowing reviews, this special place surprised me and exceeded my expectations.

We spent two nights at the Avalon Treehouse. Jennifer (the owner) was such a wonderful host. We went on a fascinating guided night hike and thrilling zipline tour, both of which were arranged by Jennifer.

The sangria at happy hour was delightful, the breakfast each morning was delicious, the room was beautiful, and the bed was so comfortable. I could go on and on, but really you should just go check it out for yourself.

My partner and I stayed in the Glade treehouse in Hidden Canopy for three nights and it was the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica! Jennifer, the owner and host has created an amazing place to stay and everything feels so personal and bespoke to what you are looking for. The Glade room was amazing - it feels like you’re inserted into the canopy, with plenty of windows and a lovely balcony to make the most of it during afternoon downtime. They provided complimentary cake and a big complimentary snack box - which we gratefully worked through. There was gorgeous Costa Rican coffee you could make in your room to enjoy the space with as well. We even spotted a yoga mat in the room if you felt inclined! Everything felt very high- spec and every detail thought of. The breakfasts were huge, made to order and delicious! Intimate complimentary sunset drinks were hosted in the main house with stunning views over monteverde’s canopy - a gorgeous touch. Jenn’s help was invaluable; setting us up with an incredible guide (we saw SO much with him!), drivers to get us around and even making reservations for activities we wanted to do. I cannot recommend this place enough - anyone would LOVE it. It was a big investment for us, but worth every penny.
