AGIA TRIADA MONASTERY
Fortified monastery of Venetian style with superb frescoes and museum with icons.
Famous throughout Crete and beyond, this 17th century Venetian-style fortified monastery is a magnificent example of Cretan Renaissance architecture. The main church imposes its beautiful symmetry in the centre of the complex, flanked by two small chapels. The superb frescoes surrounding the altar can be admired. There is also a small museum in this monastery with its beautiful orange hues where superb icons dating back to the construction of the site are on display. The monastery shop also sells olive oil and an excellent local white wine.
