The art of cheese making in a farming village and a great opportunity to celebrate: a bucolic experience!

In the Rethymnon region, this cheese festival usually takes place in August. In 2012, the production of a giant myzithra (sheep's and goat's cheese) weighing 970 kilos set the official Guinness Book record. The festivities are always accompanied by traditional music and dance, and tastings of local cuisine. Large quantities of cheese are donated to local humanitarian associations.
