During the few days before the 40-day fast that many Greeks observe before Easter, the carnival of Rethymno is in full swing and people come from all over Greece to attend! Numerous events, parties and concerts punctuate the week for young and old alike and showcase the traditions and creativity of the locals. Divided into groups, we then criss-cross the city to participate in the hunt for the lost treasure! The carnivals of Agioi Déka (Gortyne) and Kastelli are also very successful.
