MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART OF CRETE
Small museum dedicated to contemporary art located in the heart of the old town.
This small museum, dedicated to contemporary art, discreetly housed in the heart of the old town, was born out of the merger between the municipal gallery dedicated to the rethymniotic painter Lefteris Kanakakis (inaugurated in 1992), the contemporary art centre (founded in 1995) and a former soap factory, from the second half of the 20th century, transformed into an exhibition space. The permanent collection brings together Greek and international artists, and temporary exhibitions are organized there.
