This celebration, launched in 2007, pays tribute to cheese. In 2012, a mytzitra species of 970 kilos Cretan Gruyère was developed and shared. An official record in Guiness that has detracted from Italy until then (534 kilos). The festivities are always complemented by traditional music and dance, and local cuisine tasted by the women of the village and the association of the chefs of Crete. The celebration is also an opportunity to offer large quantities of cheese to the Red Cross and to retirement homes, associations helping people in difficulty or at the Rethymnon social grocery store.
