MONTON VIRGIN
We see it from the motorway, and if you take the time to climb up to it, you will enjoy a magnificent point of view, according to some of the most beautiful of the department. The Virgin, erected in 1869 by Aristide Belloc in stone of Beaucaire, from the top of its 21 m, symbolically offers the entire earth to the child Jesus and crushing the serpent, symbol of evil. From the top of its butte, it dominates the entire department of Puy de Dome and beyond: The Monts Mountains, the Sancy or the dome of Dome, the great advantage of this lookout is to offer a view to 360 degrees. On the site, an orientation table allows to locate as well as a Colchester, point of information for curious tourists. Note that for the most courageous, a path allows you to climb from the village of Monton to the butte, where the Virgin stands.
