Thanks to the patronage of the oil group Sasol, Stellenbosch has a nationally renowned art gallery. Painting enthusiasts should not miss this particularly rich museum, housed in a Dutch neoclassical building built in 1907. In addition to the anthropological section, ceremonial masks, spears, jewellery, textiles from Southern Africa and Nigeria, you will admire a permanent collection of more than 3,000 works, both painted and sculpted, covering the whole spectrum of South African art, but not only.
