Wood, marble and copper counters in this institution, open since 1782. Numerous personalities have passed through this brasserie, including the Portuguese man of letters Fernando Pessoa. Today, a few tertúlias (convivial intellectual gatherings) are still held in the iconic interior room. The prices charged seem to reflect the reputation of this now-touristy establishment. The cuisine (lots of fish: cataplana de peixes mistosrougets, sea bass...) is decent. The dish of the day is economical.
