MERCA - TUDO
Well hidden in a tiny street cutting Largo do Conde Barão and Avenida D. Carlos I, here is an already legendary (founded 1922) sign, always winning the votes of a small battalion of connoisseurs and ladies between two ages. The name of the rue Merca-Tudo where you sold everything, since there was once a different busy shops of goods, just landed ships on the nearby docks! On the orders Guiomar and Amado, she, the soul of the house, artist at her hours, he, glasses and bacchante, has a time travelled in France or Africa for business… In a supposed old coal premises, two pretty rooms crammed with stamp. First an entrance hall where a large wooden elephant defies the cartoons of cooked land while the window houses an old calculator, walls of beautiful historical azulejos and a large bar, superb, with grocery windows filled with good bottles and! ceramic sculptures, kneaded in the hands of Guiomar, and then, on the bottom, a different vaulted living room where a butler lives., a cold strand and little causing, the opposite of our warm hosts animate this authentic place of life. Shifted, French (Gainsbourg or Piaf) and Italian (yéyé) music, incredible decor with experience and intimate lighting to the candle, all this contributes to an atmosphere so special! The clientele of visitors varies according to the evening, with the image of the not very broad map mixing typical Portuguese or French dishes, cod (several preparations), porc pork meat, carils (curries) or even chili and couscous. It's usually generous (like the stove!) and excellent, as an entry to the day's petiscos, homemade tuna or snails will know perfectly to put you in appetite. Do not miss, also, the Tarot evenings "Jantarots", monthly of Kimon, the Right honourable Langues language school. Unforgettable!
