CAN THE CAN
Named after Suzi Quatro's 1970 ' s glam-rock song, this recent lisboète establishment of the new Ala Nascente Zone, around praça do Comércio, is based on the concept of high-end restoration with constantly-changing culinary innovations. Above a lustre made of 3 000 cans, the gourmet menu (sometimes vacuum), traditional Portuguese (sabor mediterrânico!) dishes as well as international cuisine, all in a very successful and very design contemporary setting. Prepared by the excellent Greek chef Akis and his team, enjoy doughnuts doughnuts, sweet potato maquereau, polenta pudding, octopus in the oven and his migas. Everything is well presented (a few times in cans, precisely!) and really succulent, based on fresh and seasonal products. On Friday evening there are Fado programming (thanks to the Fado Lab) and the space also hosts exhibitions. One of the best addresses of the praça do Comercio.
