A beautiful hostel in an old palace, it has a good restaurant.

Located in the lively Bairro Alto district, this former palace has been converted into a hotel. From the moment you enter the large reception hall, the atmosphere is one of retro, with a grand staircase leading to all three floors. The moldings on the ceilings, the beautiful parquet floors and the architecture of the building are truly charming. To the right of the reception area, in the background, is the Decadente restaurant, which has made a name for itself with its modern Portuguese cuisine. Go and have a look! In fine weather, the shaded terrace at the back is a delight.

Réservation pour 3 nuits, l’ensemble de l’hôtel et le concept est bien pensé.Le dortoir est constitué sur 3x3 lits sur 3 niveaux c’est un peu difficile à gérer en therme de gestion des bagages (il y a 2 tiroirs seulement par ensemble de 3 lits et la personne qui est tout en haut n’en dispose pas. Penser à prendre un cadenas). Par ailleurs les escaliers pour monter au 3ème niveau sont inappropriés selon la souplesse et l’agilité de la personne. Espaces communs nettoyés très souvent mais beaucoup de brassage et parfois manque de savoir vivre des gens.
Difficile de poser ses vêtements pour aller à la douche et manqué d’espace pour s’habiller. Mais le prix est tellement léger qu’il faut avouer que c’est un bon compromis si on veut voyager et ne pas passer beaucoup de temps à l’hôtel ni y mettre de l’argent.

The hostel and location was great, super lovely and accommodating staff, beautiful old building with a fabulous free breakfast. Only downside was the design of the dorm (I stayed in a 6 bed room) the beds are stacked 3 high, and creak loudly with any movement. Same with the floor boards. There’s no main light in the room, only small individual lights beside each bed. This is to stop the person in the top bunk from being blinded by a ceiling light, so I respect that. I slept on the top bunk (with no curtains) and the light from the streets was a bit bright (no curtains on the windows either). Overall I enjoyed my stay, just didn’t get the best sleep but it is a hostel so it is what it is! The kitchen is quite small and not very well equipped, while I was there I didn’t notice anyone cooking, and it was hard to find 2 mugs for tea. But with the free breakfast and delicious food in the city, it’s easy to not need to use the kitchen. Be prepared to walk up some steep streets to get there and enjoy Lisbon!
